Manchester Academic Charter School - Pittsburgh, PA
The Manchester Academic Charter School (MACS), located in Pittsburgh's North Side, is a co-educational day school for students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Founded in 1997 by the Manchester Youth Development Corporation, the school is dedicated to the superior education of the younger student, making the most of the important years before high school.
MACS was selected as the first partner to pilot Entrepreneuring Youth's newly designed program expressly for middle school youth called, i-OWN My Business...My Future.
Begun in September, 2010 when the students were in 7th grade, this unique program supports a cohort of fourteen youth through a 24-month long journey through business creation, ownership and earning money. Attending weekly Saturday sessions September-May and a daily five-week long summer program in June-July, each young person has created a business enterprise. MACS faculty has been retained and coached by Entrepreneuring out to deliver the program. The school is a critical partner in the evaluation and refinement of this instructional model
The pilot program concludes in July, 2012
