Ignite Possibilities Event - 2011

The Ignite Possibilities Event of 2011 highlighted the young entrepreneurs of the Entrepreneuring Youth present and past. The "Business Expo," where the students were able to display and sell their products and services to the attendees. After the expo, the 2011 Awardees of the George W. High School Division Winner: Amber Liggett
Bridgewater, PA resident and 15-year-old high school student, Amber Liggett, owner of Amber’s Amazing Balloons took the $2,0000 top prize in the High School Division. A self-taught balloon artist, Amber started her business when she was 9 years old. At the age of 9, Amber received a balloon kit as a gift. She became fascinated with the various techniques for creating unique and colorful balloon shapes and animals. Today, she has a thriving business providing balloon creations to entertain people of all ages. Through stories and narratives, educational lessons are included, as well as moral values. Amber also uses her business as a fundraising opportunity for organizations.
Middle School Division Winner: Jesse & Josiah Council
Josiah and Jesse took home the top prize of $400 in the Middle School Division for their business, J&J’s Healing Cream. These brothers collaborated on a product that solves the problem for people who have aches and pains but have allergic reaction to chemicals found in most healing creams. 2011 Educator of the Year: Dr. Aisha White, Northside Urban Pathways Charter School
Dr. White was honored for dedication to her students and for her initiative in helping establish a pathway of entrepreneurial education at Urban Pathways Charter School. She has been a central member of the instructional leadership team that is responsible for creating opportunities to bring the value of entrepreneurial experience and business creation to students from middle school through high school. Students excited about business creation credit Dr. White with making their experience relevant and motivating.
